MATCH REPORT

At first it seemed like this was going to be a seriously low scoring game. 15 minutes in there was still no goal to break the deadlock. Both teams were defending well, both keepers were making saves to the shots that slipped through and he attacking team was finding it hard to break the opposition down. A good start to the game though.

The goals then started to come for both teams, mainly due to some defensive mistakes or absolute worldies. Elliot once again was excellent at capitalising on the mistakes and getting a few goals. Ryan’s goal was the pick of the bunch who scored a drilling shot into the bottom corner from long range. A collectors item!

The game was 4 each at the half way stage and the defenders were definitely on top. Alan and Mart were having excellent games for the Blues, making goal saving tackles. This was also backed up by Tommy, Balf and Dim who were not shirking their defensive duties.

Ryan and Nathan were also having solid games at the back for the Reds.

The game seemed to shift momentum wise to the Blues favour in the second half. To a man they all put in excellent work rate and it was starting to pay off. Tommy was very good in the centre finding the forward passes to Balf and Dim. Mart was also bombing up and down and causing problems. If it wasnt for Pete pulling off some saves Mart would have had a hat full.

Balf and Dim were starting to find the back of the net now and put the Blues on top. The stuffing and confidence seemed to drain from the Reds as Andy was making saves and the Blues defence was so organised. The Blues were knocking the ball around and playing some quality football.

The Blues were also having the rub of the green as demonstrated by Dims 20 yard pee-roller that somehow went through Pete’s legs who was clearly unsigned.

Credit to the Reds though they didn’t just roll over. They scored some wonderful goals including a top bins from Ian to keep the Blues honest. But this Blues team were not to be denied as they continued in the same vain right to the end putting the work rate in, solid in defence, passing the ball around and making saves.

The Blues were deserved winners who put on a very good team display. 🔵🔵🔵 Hard luck Reds!
