MATCH REPORT
A game of two half’s this week!
The first half was a neck a neck with both teams trading blows. The Reds had more of the possession but the Blues held firm and resolute in thier defence.
The highlight of the game was a long ball up to Martin who nodded down for Balf who sweetly blasted it past the goalie, giving him no chance! One of the best goals in recent memory!
At 4-4 it looked like the game was going to be a nervy finish. The Reds however had other ideas. They increased their possession, especially with the Blues giving it away so cheaply. This put the Blues under constant pressure and eventually it told as they made simple mistakes which the Reds capitalised on. Bryan and Mike were on top form up front for the Reds and they led thier team 8-4 up.
Thanks to a solid defence of Ste and Alan the Blues were reduced to half chances but couldn’t put them away.
8-4 it finished. Frustrating ending for the Blues, the Reds will be buzzing with that win. Well played Reds!

MAN OF THE MATCH

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

Unfortunately it wasn’t a game that will live long in the memory.

Plain and simply, the Reds weren’t very good and the Blues cruised to the easiest of wins.

Every single player on the Blues played pretty decent and as a team they were working the ball nicely throughout.

Ian and Mike were the standout players helping themselves to most of the goals, linking up with the rest of the team really well. The defence was also really solid and Joel again excellent in nets.

With a 5 goal cushion, as if to tun salt into the wound Balf suffered a career threatening injury for the Reds. πŸ€” If it wasn’t game over already it was now. The Blues were scoring for fun after this.

The players from the Red team will want to forget about this one fast. The Blues put in a ‘professional’ performance, 3 points to them! πŸ”΅πŸ”΅πŸ”΅

Roll on Sunday!

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 5 votes each, Ian and Mike get the MOTM bonus points. Both were excellent in possession, lethal in front of goal and spurred thier team onto a deserved victory. Well done Ian and Mike!

MATCH REPORT

For the first game back after lockdown, the standard was actually a decent level, apart from a few peoples shooting! πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™ˆ

The game finished 3 all and was probably the right result. The Reds got off to a flyer and took a 2 nil lead. But the Blues came back strong to level the match thanks to goals from Balf and Dim.

Mike was working really hard and scored a few decent goals. Apart from that everyone else was a bit rusty with the finishing, especially Andy who thought he was playing Rugby 🀣

It was 3 a piece with 10 minutes to go but no team could seem to finish any of their chances. Also Bryan and Joel were fairly solid in nets and making decent saves.

3-3 was a fair result, everyone played well and was an enjoyable match. Good to be back gents see you on Sunday! πŸ”΄πŸ”΅πŸ”΄πŸ”΅

Apologies for the delay, but good news Martin and Elliot will have thier trophies presented this Sunday! πŸ†πŸ†

MATCH REPORT

Another cracking match, seem to be tighter games since moving to Goals!

Both defenses were brilliant throughout the match, including the goalkeepers. No goal was scored for 30 minutes with blocks, saves and tame finishing.

The deadlock was broken when Elliot made a lovely one-two and blasted the ball leaving Andy no chance. 1-0 Reds.

The Blues had most of the possession throughout the game and did everything right apart from thier shooting. The passing and moving was excellent, and the defensive was great too. The Reds though did make it tough with men behind the ball and when this was breached, Joel was there to make crucial saves.

The Reds once again hit the Blues on the counter and Elliot grabbed his second with another brilliant finish. 2-0 reds.

After what seemed like their thousandth shot, the Blues finally scored with Balf finishing off a nice move. 2-1 Reds.

The only contentious moment in the game came when Paul called for a penalty when Elliot was alledged to have gone into the box. Despite his claims the game carried on, big decision!

Almost straight away Elliot bagged his hat trick with an absolute rocket into the top bins! What a goal! 3-1 and this was enough to see off the Blues.

The Blues will be gutted with their finishing this week. The Reds all played brilliant and will be buzzing with this defiant victory!

Joel kept them in the match, Elliot won it for them. Well done Reds! πŸ”΄

See you all after lockdown for gameweek 2!

MAN OF THE MATCH

There was only one person who was getting MOTM this week. Joel received an impressive 9 votes and rightly so making brilliant saves throughout the match! Knocked the stuffing out of the Blues by only conceding 1 goal. Well done Joel!

MATCH REPORT
This was a final game of the season to remember, what a cracking match!
The Reds in the blink of an eye hit a purple patch went 3-0 up thanks to some well worked goals. The Blues were shell-shocked.
The Blues gave everything to get back into the match but couldn’t seem to find that big of magic in the final 3rd. The Reds were putting numbers behind the ball and defending really well. The Blues hit the post too and it just seemed like it wasn’t going to be their day.
After 30 minutes of no goals for either team finally the Blues got onto the scoresheet. Like the Reds early doors, the Blues confidence shot up and they banged in another 2 goals in quick succession to level the scores, game on!
Another few goals for each team meant we were in for a classic finish. With 10 minutes to go the Blues were up by a single goal and defending for their lives. Unfortunately for the Blues a defensive mistake was put away by Bryan and left the game all square with 5 mins to go.
The Reds started throwing the kitchen sink at the Blues goal. The pressure eventually told when a decent move was capped off with a quality finish from the matchwinner Paul! What a brilliant end to the season with the game decided by the last kick of the match.

Well done Reds a fantastic win! πŸ”΄πŸ”΄πŸ”΄

Another brilliant season well done all see you next season! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

MATCH REPORT

A really good game marred by some arguments at the end of some controversial moments!

The Reds went 1-0 up against the run of play thanks to a lovely bottom corner finish from Balf.

The Blues were having most of the possession but found an inspired Joel difficult to break down. The Reds had a few chances themselves and hit the crossbar and post.

An injured Mart swapped positions with Mart and his first act was to pick the ball out of the net thanks to a thunderbolt from Tony. 2-0 Reds.

The Blues didn’t let thier heads drop and kept working the ball and creating chances. Finally Mike found himself with a few yards space and brought the Blues back into it. 2-1.

Mike then quickly scored another and all the momentum was with the Blues who were massively on top at this point.

Paul then made it a deserved 3-2 lead to the Blues with an excellent dribble and finish.

If it wasn’t for Joel who was making some quality saves for the Reds, this game would have been out of sight.

The Reds started to get a grip on the game again and Bryan levelled it with a decent turn and finish. Game on.

Unfortunately the game went a bit sour thanks to 3 decisions all going against the Blues which they weren’t too happy about.

A slide, a handball and a few “dodgey shouts”. Think the less said the better! πŸ™ˆΒ  Despite the controversy it was a cracking game and the spoils were shared with a 3-3 result. Roll on next weeks finale! πŸ”΄πŸ”΅πŸ”΄πŸ”΅

MATCH REPORT
Another game at goals, another cracking match!

8-4 to the Blues was the final score, but don’t let this fool you, it was a close game until the final 20 minutes!

Andy started off with a good save off a long range shot from Ryan but lost sight of where the ball went and accidentally bundled it into his own net. Reds went into the lead.

Balf, Tommy and Pete made a great start though for the Blues and were excellent in defence, especially Tommy who let nothing past him all game. Pete was making bombing runs forward all game but his shooting would have been better seen on a rugby pitch! πŸ™ˆ Although 1 of his 10 shots came off with a screamer! 🀣

Tony was dictating play in the middle for the Reds but was doubled up on everytime he got near the box and struggled to pull the trigger. However when he did find half a yard he found the corner twice to score for the Reds.

A few goals each way and it was 4 a piece. The Reds were probably starting to get on top in the match but found it difficult to find space to pull the trigger.

A critical moment in the match came when Tony finally managed to get past the Blues defence for a 1 on 1 but Andy redeemed his earlier mistake with a cracking save to keep it level.

Elliot wasn’t seeing much of the ball up front so made a switch with Balf and this seemed to work a treat for the Blues. Paul and Mike were starting to see more of the ball with Balf linking up well.

Despite a good performance from Ryan and Alan in defence the pace of El from defence started to cause serious problems as the Blues attackers started to find openings. A Balf hat trick (he reminded me several times to put this in) and a few goals from Mike, El and Paul throughout the game meant the Blues had a comfortable last 10 minutes and managed the game to a well earned 8-4 victory.

A close game and some really quality performances well done lads and especially the Blues! πŸ”΅πŸ”΅πŸ”΅πŸ”΅

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 7 votes Andy gets MOTM this week. Despite an early mistake he grew throughout the game and made a match winning save when it was level along with some other decent saves. Thanks lads!

MATCH REPORT
Before the match talk was going round about changing the teams, but captain Elliot was confident his team could do a job and get a result. His confidence was well placed!

Brilliant 1st game at goals and it was a 7 goal thriller!

The Blues got off to a really good start being quite solid at the back and Nathan, who had an excellent first game back opened the scoring after making a marauding run down the wing and finishing expertly to give them a 1 goal lead.

The Reds then took control of the ball and held most of the possession. The Blues were over-run in midfield and the Reds definately started imposing thier game. The pressure caught up on the Blues and mis-communcation between Andy and Ryan meant Ryan headed into an empty net as Andy had come out for the ball. 1-1.

The second mistake came when Andy was looking for a quick counter attack and threw the ball straight to Mike, who pinged it into the net with the outside of his foot. A gift presented to Mike who happily accepted it. 2-1 Reds.

The Blues were struggling to get the ball out of thier half at this point and they kept giving it away. The Reds then deservedly took the lead with a nicely worked goal and took up a 3-1 lead.

Tommy admirably suggested swapping positions with Balf and this turned the game on its head. Tommy was excellent at left back with his usually good distribution. Balf increased the work-rate in the middle and the Blues looked like a different team. They looked dangerous on the break with Elliots pace and John & Balf linking up well.

The Blues finally got thier rewards for some good link up play with Elliot scoring an excellent goal to reduce the deficit to 1 goal.

The Reds were still knocking the ball around nicely but they were too reliant on Mike for providing the goals. The midfielders seemed to create space for themselves but fail to shoot and test the goalkeeper. The Blues on the other hand were shooting at every available opportunity but found Ste in good form making some quality saves.

A big moment in the game came when the equaliser was scored, which in Balfs own words, was a “screamer”. 3 each and a huge last 20 minutes for either team to search out for a winner.

Elliots pace was continuing to create chances for the Blues, and Balfs hold up play up front was excellent. John was also helping out with the defending, it was a real team effort. Ryan was also defending brilliantly for the Blues and did an excellent job keeping Mike and Dim quietish.

The Blues kept pressing and eventually their 4th goal came thanks to a deflected Elliot shot. 10 mins for the Blues to hang on to what would be a shock result.

The defending then became frantic from the Blues. Tommy, Ryan and Nath were putting in some last ditch tackle and the attackers were working like crazy to help out.

But a moment of rare slack defending and Mike found himself through 1 on 1 with Andy. Mike did everything right and shot to a corner, but Andy who had already committed to the other side managed to react well and dangle a leg out to make a huge save and redeem himself from his earlier error.

It just seemed like it was going to be the Blues day and they managed to see out the remaining minutes and take away a marverlous win. The Reds were stunned but they were outworked and the hard graft paid off. Great win blues roll on next week! πŸ”΅πŸ”΅
