TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

This was about as tight a game throughout the whole 90 minutes (or 95 if you ask Ste πŸ˜‚) as you could wish for. Low scoring game and the defenders generally on top.

The Blues got off to the quicker start going 3-1 up thanks to some well worked goals.

The Reds came back well with Mike being the main danger man who was definately targeted by the Blue team. He scored a few really good individual goals that brought his team back into the match.

The games best moment definately came when Ian and Tommy went into a 50/50 tackle. It looked like Ian ran into a brick wall as Tommy dominated the challenge, much to the amusement of the players!

The game was level at 6 all for what seemed like an age. Andy managed to intercept a sloppy pass and score what looked like to be the winner due to the games lack of goals. But the Reds hit straight back and went 1 up, again thanks to Mike. The Reds had a great spell and were playing terrific football, however they were up against an inspired and angry goalkeeper in Ryan who was pulling off some great saves.

The Blues managed to level it up and 7:00 passed.

Calls for next goal wins seemed to be agreed as all players stayed on the pitch. The Blues man marked Mike and pushed for the winner. After having a few chances Elliot who had an excellent game in defence scored the matchwinner with a superb bit of individual skill to give the Blues 3 points, albeit probably the 2nd best team. Well done Blues πŸ”΅

What the players said:

“Extra time brought about a tense ending the blues pressure was too much for the reds and a worthy win”

“New rule! If you don’t want to wait for the ball to drop… pull it down and play on and it’s especially ok if you score from it πŸ˜‚”

“Buzzing with that win such hard work”

“Great game I thought lemons were bitter till I met Ste”

“Good team effort from the Blues!”

“7:05. Void”

“It was out of *** and *** for me but I’m gonna go *** coz *** was too negative and moaned about everything!” πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 4 votes Mike gets MOTM for the 2nd week running. Despite getting lumps kicked out of him he kept going and came up with some important goals. Unlucky to be on the losing team as he was definately the stand out player. Well played Mike! 2 bonus points is a nice consolation!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

This was a complete performance from the Blues. They were the better team in every department.

Elliot and Martin were a great partnership at the back and it was hard work for the Reds to create chances.

John and Ian knew each others game inside out and linked up beautifully up top. Dim was the central figure in all the Blues play and he set the ball rolling with some fine opening goals to give them an early lead.

The Reds still had quality up front though with Balf and Mike, but they were limited to half chances. Ryan was probably the Reds best player, defending well and bombing forward in support of the attacks. The goals continued to come for the Blues, it seemed they buried every chance which was the complete opposite to the Reds.

Towards the end of the match the Reds pushed further up to try and make a game of it but this lead to an embarrassing scoreline. The Reds were all over the place for the last 30 minutes and the Blues just kept going and going, scoring goals for fun.

It was an easy, dominant win for the Blues. Well played lads! πŸ”΅πŸ”΅

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 4 votes each Dim & Ste both get the MOTM bonus points this week.

Dim was fantastic this week linking up well with his team mates and rarely wasting the ball. Scored some great goals and fully deserves the votes!

Ste had a blinder in nets and it took quality goals to beat him. Made plenty of saves he had no right to save and definately helped make it an easy win for his team. Could have been closer if not for Ste

Well played lads!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

You could tell it was a big game as it was quite a cagey opening 20 minutes. Not many goals were scored as the defenders were generally on top and the contenders were making sure thier team was solid.

The game started opening up and a few chances started appearing. Bryan was the form man in the 1st half as he was creating some half chances for himself and scored some absolute beauties. He helped the Blues to a slender lead and he definitely fancied getting that title!

The Reds came into it though through some great work by Elliot and Ian imparticular going forward. John was a constant nuisance up front and it didnt look like he had been away for 4 months.

Gaps started appearing in the middle of the pitch which was dangerous for the Blues. Ian quickly found his shooting range and was blasting them in past Andy for fun. The Blues didn’t help themselves as they kept letting him shoot.

Elliot was also seeing plenty of the ball and causing havoc with the little give and go’s. The Reds had a deserved 3 goal lead going into the last 20.

With Ste and Mart at the back for the Reds playing with confidence and reading the game well, goals were proving very difficult to find for the Blues. Balf and Dim scored a few decent goals but it wasn’t enough.

The Blues tried to change things around tactically but it was to no avail. Ian was running the show in the middle and everyone of the Reds did their job extremely well.

The Blues pushed up but left gaps and were duly punished. The Reds deservedly won the game, a really good team performance well done Reds. πŸ”΄πŸ”΄πŸ”΄

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 6 votes Ian was the deserved MOTM this week. His shooting was unstoppable and played with an air of confidence and composure we haven’t seen for a while. Will give him a great boost for season 7. Well done Ian great play!

“Brian made some good saves in goal, Martin was like a Jack Russell and they kept on moaning at him for fouling but they started playing on it in the end. Dim was going over spectacularly every time we got touched. Turkey grabbed the ball on the floor and stopped tony going clean through on the halfway line which caused a bit of trouble”

“Brian had a blinder in goal unlike me πŸ˜‚”

MATCH REPORT

The first 30 minutes couldn’t have been tighter. Both defences were proving hard to break down and both goalies were pulling off some good saves. It was 3-2 to the Reds at this point.

The Reds though were putting more pressure on the Blues, eventually this pressure told when a defensive mistake was capitalised by Mart who cooled slotted home through the legs of Andy.

The Blues toiled but to be honest were pretty poor with thier finishing all game. They either couldn’t hit the target or couldnt beat Bryan who had another solid game in goal.

The Reds on the other hand were clinical with thier finishing, finding the corners or blasting from tight angles. Tony Bryan and Mart were on fire it has to be said. Mart even managed to score a cheeky back heel from a free kick which was an excellent piece of skill!

The Reds built up a nice little lead and some rather comical events took place. First Ryan’s hilarious Tom Daley impression had everyone howling, was an 8.5 I think Ryan! Tommy out muscling Dim in a 50/50 shoulder barge also had everyone in stitches. Dim will be pleased the gyms have just reopened. Tommy then got tackled by the wind.

Ryan who was defensively brilliant alongside Nathan, was having a bit of a shocker with his shooting all game. But if at first you don’t succeed, try try again. He got a stroke of luck with a deflected long range shot which gave Andy no chance. Mike missed a sitter in front of goal and the Blues kind of knew it wasn’t going to be thier day.

Ryan again went bombing forward, nut-megged Ian and slotted past Ste, unbeleivable goal considering his previous efforts.

Despite the Reds having the rub of the green, the Blues kepy going, kept trying to create chances but just didn’t have that extra gear. But the Reds scored at will with Mart running riot, Tony controlling the game and Dim playing constant football.

A good all round performance from the Reds well played lads! πŸ”΄

MATCH REPORT

After a long lay off, a lot of the blues players were a bit rusty at the start to say the least. Not Tommy though, 1st long ball into him and the instant control was like a pro. It was a sign of his performance to come.

The Reds came out of the blocks firing and punished the Blues on the break time after time. The pace of Tony, Elliot and Dim was too much for the Blues defence and they just kept scoring at will. The Blues defenders were putting in some tough tackles but this didnt seem to stop the onslaught.

The Blues left a huge gap between defence and attack. Mart and Tommy just kept picking the passes out and letting the attackers do the rest.

The Reds were absolutely flying and found themselves an astonishing 9 goals up. Tony was on fire and seemed to find the back of the net everytime he had a chance, including a top bins rocket! With Ryan, Tommy and Mart solid at the back this match was only going one way.

Half way through the match the Blues changed thier tactics and decided to push everyone further up the pitch and pass the ball around more. This seemed to work as they started creating chances, Balf and Mike started to put a few away. The Blues were starting to make the scoreline a bit more respectable. Bryan was also pulling off some unbelievable saves and kept it from getting embarrassing.

For the final 20 minutes the Reds didn’t score a single goal, mainly thanks to Bryan. But credit to the Blues, they battled back and got the difference down to 4 goals.

But when you go 9 goals down you are not getting a win. The Reds were by far the better team, got their tactics right and were ruthless in front of goal.

Good to be back lads well played Reds! πŸ”΄

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 4 votes each Tommy and Tony are this weeks MOTM!

Tommy was excellent in possession all game and never give it away once. He also was solid at the back and never looked in trouble. Quality game Tommy!

MATCH REPORT

At first it seemed like this was going to be a seriously low scoring game. 15 minutes in there was still no goal to break the deadlock. Both teams were defending well, both keepers were making saves to the shots that slipped through and he attacking team was finding it hard to break the opposition down. A good start to the game though.

The goals then started to come for both teams, mainly due to some defensive mistakes or absolute worldies. Elliot once again was excellent at capitalising on the mistakes and getting a few goals. Ryan’s goal was the pick of the bunch who scored a drilling shot into the bottom corner from long range. A collectors item!

The game was 4 each at the half way stage and the defenders were definitely on top. Alan and Mart were having excellent games for the Blues, making goal saving tackles. This was also backed up by Tommy, Balf and Dim who were not shirking their defensive duties.

Ryan and Nathan were also having solid games at the back for the Reds.

The game seemed to shift momentum wise to the Blues favour in the second half. To a man they all put in excellent work rate and it was starting to pay off. Tommy was very good in the centre finding the forward passes to Balf and Dim. Mart was also bombing up and down and causing problems. If it wasnt for Pete pulling off some saves Mart would have had a hat full.

Balf and Dim were starting to find the back of the net now and put the Blues on top. The stuffing and confidence seemed to drain from the Reds as Andy was making saves and the Blues defence was so organised. The Blues were knocking the ball around and playing some quality football.

The Blues were also having the rub of the green as demonstrated by Dims 20 yard pee-roller that somehow went through Pete’s legs who was clearly unsigned.

Credit to the Reds though they didn’t just roll over. They scored some wonderful goals including a top bins from Ian to keep the Blues honest. But this Blues team were not to be denied as they continued in the same vain right to the end putting the work rate in, solid in defence, passing the ball around and making saves.

The Blues were deserved winners who put on a very good team display. πŸ”΅πŸ”΅πŸ”΅ Hard luck Reds!

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 5 votes each Balf and Andy are joint MOTM this week. Balf worked tirelessly for the cause and once again had his left peg to thank for some great finishing. A well rounded performance well done Balf! Andy make several key saves at big moments and was solid in nets.

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

This was like 2 games in 1. The 1st 30 minutes it was a really good game of football with both sides trying to shape up well defensively and work the ball.

The Blues probably just edged it more possession and creating some really good chances by working the ball. Ian was definitely looking sharper this week controlling the game in midfield and allowing Balf and Elliot to make the runs.

The Reds were going for the more direct route with Bryan and Mike both pushing high and Dim trying to create the chances.

The Blues found themselves a couple up thanks to some good goals and good defending, especially from the stalwart Tommy. Unfortunately after a hard but fair tackle on Mike, Mike rolled his ankle and this changed the whole game.

Ste was also struggling in net with injury so Andy swapped with Ste so that both teams had an injured keeper.

From then on it was absolute carnage. The Blues had a flurry of goals coming from all angles as Mike was finding it hard to make saves. The Blues had a 5 goal lead and looked like they were going to cruise to an easy victory.

But a combination of Ste being injured and Bryan been in the right place at the right time on several occasions, and the Reds pulled back an unlikely comeback and levelled the scores.

It was a comical passage of play from then on. The Blues seemed to be blasting goals in from their own half, but everytime they scored the Reds hit straight back, mainly through Bryan’s poaching skills. One highlight though was a quality volley from Balf.

Goals were been leaked from all over due to the injuries, even Ryan managed to get on the scoresheet!

In the end the match finished level. A forgettable match really and the second draw in a row. Roll on next week!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Bryan gets MOTM this week with 6 votes. He was the ultimate poacher this week scoring crucial goals for the teams comeback. He also scored a few goals shrugging off defenders and did a brilliant job as the main goal threat up front. Well played Bry!

Remaining votes went to:

Alan with 2

Tommy with 3

Ryan with 1

KEY STATS

Bryan levels his points total with the top two players but due to having less votes he cant stop Mike and Balf remaining captains next week. (Unless Mike’s injury stops him)
