TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

The started off quite slowly with both teams a bit sloppy in possession and nobody seemingly wearing their shooting boots.

Eventually the goals started to come for both teams with a combination of good goals and mistakes.

The Blues were trying to get the ball down, work the space and play good football. The Reds were focused on keeping a good team shape and trying to hit the Blues on the counter using the pace of Dim and Mike.

In truth both tactics worked. The Blues scored some really good team goals, with Balf and El especially finishing some well worked team goals. The Reds also played the counter attack very well with Bryan doing a good job playing the target man and feeding goals to Mike and Dim. Ian was also trying to mark Mike out of the game which worked for most of the game.

Neither team could really get a foothold in the match as both teams were never out of it. Mart was doing an excellent job of setting the tone for his team with his fantastic work rate and putting the tackles in. He was also more vocal than usual which seemed to pick his teammates up. With the scores level, Mart scored another screamer from long range which flew straight into the top corner.

The Reds were now fully on top with 10 minutes to go and Bryan opened up a 2 goal lead with a brilliant solid goal from a tight angle. Mike finally found some space to make it 3 up and it looked like the Reds were going to take home the 3 points.

The Blues never gave up though. Balf scored a lovely goal to reduce the deficit to 2. Then unfortunately for Tommy a slow pass back to Ste in nets was superbly poached upon by Ell to make it 1 down.

The Blues kept creating chances and eventually got a deserved equaliser. But with Ste badly injured as the GK, a moment of sportsmanship from Balf came as he called the draw as Ste was really struggling.

A fitting end to the game where both teams didn’t deserve to lose. A draw the right result well played all!

MAN OF THE MATCH

With an impressive 8 votes Mart is this weeks MOTM. Mart was definitely the stand out player with his work rate second to none. He also added plenty of goals and assists to go with this. Well done Mart fully deserved! 💪

Remaining votes went to:

Mike with 1

Balf with 2

Dim with 1

KEY STATS

With the result being a draw Mart makes up 2 points on everyone and now is only 3 behind Mike!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

The pre match talk seemed to suggest the Blues were in for an absolute hiding, far from it!

The Blues came out of the traps quickly and straight away put the Reds on the back foot. The tactics were a back 3 with Elliot given licence to bomb forward when on the attack. This caused all sorts of problems for the Reds as Dim, Danny and Elliot were linking up superbly and scored some exceptional team goals. The Blues got off to a great start and deserved the lead.

The Reds seemed to finally work out their shape and got more organised. Nathan and Balf were more solid and the tackles finally started being put in. A rocket from Balf and Mike getting on the scoresheet with sheer determination and we had a game on our hands.

The Blue team were definitely playing the better football for the whole of the match. El was playing out of his skin being excellent in defence and superb in his counter attacking play. Dim was fantastic in the middle and his work rate is starting to become a consistency feature in his game. Mart and tommy were excellent at the back and Danny was putting a real shift in up front.

This work rate from the Blues was fantastic and again they put on another spurt of goals to get ahead in the game. Dim scored a few great goals beating his man and blasting it past Pete. Danny scored a nice individual goal and Elliot scored some belters too. The pick of the bunch though was Martin going on a surging run from deep and finishing from the half way line to stun everyone. Think he even surprised himself it went in!

The Blues had built a commanding lead and were by far the better side. The Blues had given everything and were forced to sit back purely to conserve some energy. The Reds then started to dictate the possession and were having long range shots. Andy had a 15 minute spell of stopping everything thrown at him, much to the disbelief of the Reds.

The Blues were 4 up with 10 minutes to and then the tide started to turn. Mike was seeing more and more of the ball and was creating chances from nothing. He scored a few brilliant individual goals to drag his side within touching distance. He then turned into a proper goal poacher by capitalising on a few rebounded shots and finishing clinically to level it for the Reds.

The Blues then started making chances for themselves but Pete made some massive saves at the end.

Scores level with minutes to go and the ball fell to Balf outside the box who curled one to the side of the goal. Unfortunately Andy’s vision was blocked by the defenders and saw it too late, the ball went in and the Reds completed the most unlikely of comebacks.

The final whistle went and the Reds stole the 3 points. Fantastic game and credit to the Reds for not giving up! The Blues will be gutted with this one!

MATCH REPORT

This weeks was a pretty evenly contested match. However the first 15 minutes the Blues were stuck in first gear and Reds made them pay.

The Reds raced 5-0 up after 15 minutes. A few deflected goals and a few great finishes from Mike and Dim, and it was looking like this was going to be a walk over. Ian was dictating play in the middle and given time and space he was creating a lot of chances. This bought quite a few fouls for the Reds too as the Blues were making desperate tackles (including Andy chopping Mike out who would have been clear in goal 😬)

The Blues kept their heads up and quickly got much more organised. They switched Tommy alongside Andy at the back, who formed a pretty solid partnership in defence. This left Balf, Mart, El and Bry to do the attacking work and bring the Blues back into the game.

El scored some a few powerful goals from incredibly tight angles and suddenly the momentum was with the Blues. Bryan’s hold up play up front was brilliant and he was setting up chances for his team mates time and again. The Reds were sat deep and trying to counter attack with their pacey players.

The game settled into a pattern and a few goals for both teams and the Reds were still ahead but within touching distance. The Blues were arguably playing the better football but saves were being made and chances were being missed.

A debatable penalty controversy then happened with Balf and Ste contesting the decision. Balf stepped up but Ian went in nets as Ste wasn’t happy. Unfortunately for the Blues, Ian saved Balfs penalty and now its two misses in a row for Balf 😬

The Blues kept going thought despite that set back and Balf soon redeemed himself with a cracker into the corner of the goal. El quickly followed that up with another quality goal and it was level with 15 mins to go.

The adrenaline was clearly pumping through the Blues players as they were blocking everything, throwing tackles and running their socks off to a man. This momentum got them another goal and the lead for the first time in the game, what a comeback!

The comeback had clearly affected the Blues energy levels as they all looked spent. The Reds upped it a gear and ruthlessly finished chance after chance. Dim and Mike found more space and were linking up really well with John. The Blues just couldn’t keep up and the Reds raced to a 4 goal lead to finish the job.

Credit to the Blues, they were possibly the better footballing side. However the Reds ultimately finished their chances off better, especially at the start and end of the match. Well done Reds great game great win! 🔴🔴

MATCH REPORT

From start to finish there was only one team who looked like they were going to win this game!

The Blues out-thought, out-battled, out-skilled and out-played the Reds in every department. They flew out of the blocks and went to a 4 goal lead.

There was some superb interplay from the Blues. Mart, Alan and Balf were hard to beat in defence. Ell and Dim worked tirelessly in midfield and hit the Reds with pace time after time. Bryan did an excellent target man job up front. It was a really well rounded display from the Blues.

The Reds just simply got their tactics wrong and just couldn’t keep up with the pace. Towards the end of the game a goals for the Reds and there was a hint of a comeback but this was soon snuffed out with more goals for the Blues. Comfortable win excellent team performance from the Blues well played! 🔵🔵

With 5 votes Balf is this weeks star man. He scored some rockets from long range and was excellent at the back. (Even though he could have been sent off with his shocking tackle on Andy 😉) well done Balf great start to the season!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

Wow what a match!

The Blues started the better team playing Guardiola style tactics. As soon as Ste in nets had the ball or the defence they positioned Elliot wide right and Ian wide left leaving Tony in the middle.

The Reds didn’t figure this tactic out early doors and the Blues made them pay. They always seemed to have either Ell or Ian in plenty of space on the wing. Ell kept finding himself 1 v 1 on the wing and with his pace found that extra yard and buried into the bottom corner.

With Ell making a fantastic start and Tony dictating play in the middle the Blues got off to a perfect start with a 3 goal lead. As well as the counter attacking tactics mentioned the Blues also played a very deep defensive line with every man behind the ball which made it extremely difficult for the Reds attacking players.

After the Blues gaining a solid lead the momentum in the match seemed to tip the Reds way. In midfield they realised the wide men tactic and marked up much better and looked more solid as a team. The goals dried up and the Reds were more aggressive in the 50/50 battles. Eventually they got their reward thanks to some workmanlike goals from Dim, Balf and Mike.

With both defences making blocks and decent tackles; when goals were scored they were of real high quality. The pace and intensity of the game was frantic and you could see every player was buzzing and well up for it.

With the game neck a neck the game was crying out for a hero. Mike was the player who did this in the 2nd half for the Reds as he scored a few goals which he probably wasn’t entitled to score but his pure determination got him some great goals.

The Reds were firmly on top now. Balf scored from half way with a soft goal really and Ryan followed it up with an absolute screamer into the top corner to give them a 3 goal lead with 15 minutes left.

The Reds had been on the front foot for a good period now but for some reason eased off and tried to manage to the game. Big mistake. Tony was the Blues player who was making everything tick with quality on the ball and was an inspiring figure in dragging his team back into the match.

The Blues were now the team looking the most dangerous. A couple of mistakes later from the Reds and the Blues were now 1 goal behind. Ian blasted a rocket into the bottom corner with a few minutes to go and it was level. What a match this is.

For the first time in the 2nd half El finally found that space again and he ruthlessly beat his man and shot into the far corner! What a moment! The Blues were jumping for joy and Ell’s shirt came off swinging above his head in celebrating the winner!

Unbelievable scenes!

Before any kind of restart could take place the final whistle went and the Blues took the 3 points in an absolute thriller! Credit to both teams, both played superb and easily the best match in months! Well played everyone and well done the Reds! 🔴

MAN OF THE MATCH

Only fitting that Elliot and Tony received 5 votes each and are both therefore this weeks MOTM.

Elliot was unplayable for the first 30 minutes with his blistering pace and superb finishing. Scored a fantastic winner too.

Tony played a brilliant box to box role in this game. His defensive work was first class and as usual in front of goal he was hard to stop. Well played both men!

MATCH REPORT

From the first minute to the last, the Blues controlled the game and were the better side. They got off to a flying start with a few early goals from Richie and Dim. Before they knew they had opened up a 5 goal cushion and were cruising.

Ryan and Alan were playing fantastic at the back for the Blues. Blocking and intercepting the majority of attacks coming their way.

The Reds were finding Balf and Ian isolated up front which made the defending easier for the Blues. Richie and Dim were linking well with John up front and were creating chance after chance.

Despite a mini revival from the Reds scoring a couple of decent individual goals, the Blues always looked like they had another gear.

Towards the end of the match they had opened up a massive lead and this knocked the stuffing out of the Reds and out of the match really.

Blues by far the stronger team and ran away with a comfortable win. Let’s hope for a closer game next week lads!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Richie is this week’s MOTM with 4 votes. He was the scorer and creator of many of the Blues goals which was key in getting the 3 points for his team. His work rate in his defensive duties was also very notable, well played Richie!

Remaining votes went to:

MATCH REPORT

This was another cracking match with a crazy last 20 minutes.

The Reds were the better team for long periods in this match especially at the beginning. Balf and an especially brilliant Alan were commanding their defence excellently. Alan was blocking and intercepting everything that came his way and looked like a different player to recent weeks.

With Ste in net they had a solid base to go and play some excellent football. The passing and moving between Mart, Dim and Bryan was unplayable to start off with. They took a commanding lead with some super counter super goals. Every goal was unstoppable and it looked like they were going to embarrass the Blues.

To be fair to Tommy and Ryan they were actually playing really well in defence, they were just outnumbered several times. Mike, John and Ian were working hard but struggled to get back when the Reds countered. The Blues tried to regroup but were finding it hard to get through the Reds defence. When they did, Ste seemed to be saving everything. The Reds kept on playing their football and they had built up an impressive 6 goal lead.

The Reds were by far the better team for the first hour and it looked like they were cruising to an easy win. Thanks to a small break in play, the Blues regrouped and pushed Ian further back to protect the defence, and all came back as a team as soon as they lost possession. This seemed to work as they stopped the Reds from scoring and as a result the Reds started to sit on their lead. The Reds also swapped positions with a few players and this seemed to upset their rhythm.

John scored a super goal beating the defender and finishing the chance off. Deficit down to 5 and a small glimmer. Mike deservedly found the back of the net finally beating his brother in nets. Down to 4, the Blues were getting encouraged.

Ian found plenty of space in the middle and was encouraged to shoot by his teammates. He found the back of the net twice with that lovely left foot. 10 minutes to go and the Blues were 2 down, the momentum on their side and they really fancied it now.

Another goal for the Blues, 1 goal in it. Dim had a long range chance struck perfectly to the bottom corner and Andy made a cracking save to keep them in it. The Blues went up the other side and guess what, a leveller!!

2 minutes left and the next goal would be the matchwinner, who would step up and be the hero? You guessed it, Ian picked the ball up and curled it past the Reds keeper and the Blues were unbelievably 1 goal up!

The full time whistle went and the Blues pulled off the best comeback in league history. The Reds probably deserved to win they were the better team for most of the match. But the Blues showed an excellent fighting spirit and pulled off a great win.

Cracker of a match well played lads!

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 4 votes each Alan and Ian are the MOTM this week!

Alan was a beast this week, nothing went past him and he was back to his aggressive no nonsense self. Well done Alan. Ian was the game changer this week by dragging the Blues into the game and eventually scoring the winner. You have to watch that wand of a left foot or get punished! Well played Ian!

Remaining votes went to:

Ryan with 3

Andy with 1

KEY STATS

Ian’s 2nd MOTM performances gives him a 2 point cushion at the top, is he going to do the double!

MATCH REPORT

For 20 minutes both teams were playing solid football defensively. Both teams put men behind the ball when the opposition were in possession and it stayed 0-0 for what seemed an age.

The Blues eventually broke the deadlock and took a 1-0 lead and was quickly followed up by a second to go 2 up.

The Blues seemed to push men up the pitch which exposed their defence. To their credit Tommy and Alan were playing excellently at the back using their vast experience and Andy was pulling off some great saves. But the pressure eventually told when the Reds countered with numbers and they soon squared the match back up.

The Reds made is difficult for the Blues with Balf and Ryan disciplined at the back and organising the team to be a defensive unit. With Elliot and Mike working their socks off but constantly being doubled up, the Blues best chance of scoring was creating space for Ian in the middle who was looking to smash the ball with his lethal left foot.

The Reds however had their best spell of the game with Bryan playing brilliantly up front. He was either laying the ball off to a teammate or creating half chances for himself. With Dim, Mart and Balf bombing forward in support they eventually got their noses in front, mainly with Bryan and Dim finishing off some difficult chances. Thankfully for the Blues Andy was keeping them in touching distance having a good game in nets.

After a drinks break the Blues regrouped and pushed Ian further back to provide that extra cover. This seemed to work and the Blues looked solid again and Ian found himself with space in the middle, once again that left foot was finding the back of the net.

But the Reds kept responding almost immediately and kept the Blues at arms length. Again Bryan was scoring from tight angles and with 10 minutes to go they had a 3 goal cushion and were happy to try and see the game out.

The Blues pulled one back but the reds were playing a brilliant team game and were able to manage the game out to a relatively comfortable victory despite a close scoreline. Reds win by 2 well played Reds!

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 5 votes each Bryan and Andy are this weeks MOTM.

Bryan was excellent up front holding the ball up well and creating chances for himself and his teammates. Scored the crucial winning goals too well played Bryan! Andy made some big saves in the match to keep the Blues in it and frustrated the Rdds attackers. 2 bonus points each!

MATCH REPORT

What a match this was, best in ages credit to the captains for picking such close teams! I dont think there was 1 player who had a bad performance.

Both teams tried to be solid at the back and hit the other team on the counter or play their way through which was proving very difficult. Both teams were defending solidly and the keepers were both making good saves.

Both teams scored goals but neither team could get a comfortable cushion. Tony and Elliot were running round tirelessly for the Blues and scored some really good goals. Tommy was excellent on the ball and kept creating chances for his teammates. For the Reds Dim, Ian and John were working he ball really well and trying to stretch the play out constantly. Alan and Balf were a solid partnership and growing in confidence.

It was neck a neck for an hour and you really couldn’t split the teams.

It was set up for a massive last 20 minutes and the drama didn’t disappoint. The Reds were piling players forward and Balf kept finding space in the centre as he wasn’t getting picked up. His first attempt was excellently saved by Andy, but a few minutes later in a similar position he gave the keeper no chances by banging into the top corner, great goal.

The Blues hit back straight away with arguably the best goal of the game when Tommy held the ball up and crossed across the box intelligently to Elliot who volleyed the ball into the back of the net, what a peach! Tony followed this up with a superb counter attacking goal for the Blues and they were 2 goals up and looking set for the win.

But the Reds didn’t give up and kept knocking on the door. The Reds were putting pressure on the Blues defence and this brought along a mistake. Nathan was the unfortunate player who passed the ball back to an empty net after Andy was guarding the near post. Unlucky Nathan who was having a really good game.

They kept popping shots off and unfortunately for the Blues a deflected shot wrong footed the keeper and brought them level with 10 minutes left.

A few more minutes passed with Pete making some brilliant saves and giving his team a good chance of victory. The Reds went up the field and John Mc Jr hit another shot and guess what, it deflected and beat the keeper again. The Reds had somehow snuck in front.

Unbelievably a 3rd goal in a row deflected past the keeper and this seemed to finish off the Blues and knock the stuffing out of them. What hard luck, an OG and 3 deflected goals to decide the game.

Brilliant comeback for the Reds though who battled hard and never gave up. Fantastic all round play lads certainly one of the best games in a long time!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Balf gets it this week with 6 votes! He was excellent in defence and organised his team well. Scored some big goals at big moments in the game and certainly deserved the MOTM. Well played Balf 👏
