TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

Well another great game lads at first the teams looked a bit uneven because we had Ryan but as the game panned out it was closer than first thought. But the Reds had the three amigos Tony Elliott and balf all proving to be a goal threat and with Tom probably one of the best passes on the pitch the Reds looked the real deal with the energy from balf after his gastric band and with the big target man John Mc upfront to hold the ball up things were difficult for the blues .

But let’s not forget the blues had mighty Mike and he was starting to get his rhythm with some great goals and link up play The Reds realise they had a game on their hands.

Nathan was solid at the back (but just not as solid as Ryan ) and brought the ball out of defence really well with some lovely through balls to the man Mountain to hold the ball up , but what they forgot to realise is we had a man Mountain ourselves in goal who seemed to save everything even though he was minding Caleb’s ball under his top he still shows great agility and reactions and the ball under his top did not hinder him whatsoever .

One ploy that the Reds were using was to try and get Tony to win free kicks but VAR stepped in to save any trouble and Martin was vindicated time after time apart from one occasion when he had no option to kick him because if he didn’t he would’ve got past .

Elliott was making some great runs and scored some really nice Goals particularly one where he held players off and turned on a sixpence to score a screamer , The three amigos were linking up really well but the Reds were defending and blocking which made it difficult for them to get a head of steam as regards the scoreline.

But the game was won in the last 10 minutes up to then it was neck and neck but with some mistakes and great finishes from the blues they came through victorious .

MAN OF THE MATCH

This week is a man of the match with 4 votes goes to Ryan he may look like a baby giraffe when he runs but he stings like a bee when he defends some great goals with his eyes shut and all-round great work great well done Ryan well deserved.

Also it’s worth acknowledging that Ste and balf also had great games and where close runners up and this is the first week that Brian hasn’t had a vote but is back to his winning ways (hope you forgive Mart) but Ryan takes the glory.

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

This week it was a much better and closer game like we all hoped.

The Reds surged to an early 2 goal lead thanks to a bit of magic from El and Mike. They were given half a yard space and both were despatched well.

Both teams were actually playing really well as defensive units. The Reds had more of the possession but were finding it difficult to get past a solid partnership of Balf and Ryan. On top of that Ian was doing a job on Mike pretty much man marking him the whole game.

The Blues finally got their breakthrough with a few quick goals from Dim and from then on it was a bit of a stalemate for 30 minutes.

Hardly any more goals were scored, the defending was excellent and the goalkeepers were making saves when called upon.

With 30 minutes left the Blues put on a brilliant 10 minute spell to take control of the match. With players getting more tired, John was finding himself with more space and was receiving the ball as the target man. Everytime he was put into the corner, support was charging in from the Blues players and John picked them out everytime. The Blues were ruthless in taking the chances. Balf scored a quick hat trick and Ian also scored a crucial goal. Dim was also on the scoresheet with some excellent goals and John was racking up the assists.

The Reds were shocked with this spell and found themselves with a mountain to climb. A few consolation goals came but the Blues were too strong and solid defensively and saw out the game to a comfortable scoreline.

The game was close for long periods but a great 10 minutes from the Blues sealed the victory. The Reds played their part in a good game but let it slip by not picking up the runners. Well played Blues excellent team performance.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Ian just takes it this week with 4 votes! He did a superb man marking job and was excellent in disrupting the Reds play. Controlled possession and showed his class in attack. Well played Ian!

MATCH REPORT

The biggest shock in this match was the fact that the Reds actually went 1-0 up and were winning for a brief moment!!

The first 20 minutes you could say the Reds were in the match. However they missed plenty of good chances and quite frankly were poor in front of goal.

From this point onwards the Blues well and truly battered the Reds.

Mike was having a field day up front. Ian and John were supporting well and constantly found themselves 3v2. They punished some slack collective defending from the Reds and continued to hit the back of the net.

Mart and Ste were swotting all the Reds attacks and the occasional shots that got through were being saved by an in form Bryan.

This continued through pretty much the rest of the match. The Reds were very poor as a team and the Blues were superb. The Blues got to double figures in their lead and deservedly so. They scored some silky team goals and had 6 brilliant performances.

Well played Blues throughly deserved the 3 points! πŸ”΅πŸ”΅πŸ”΅

Captains picking the teams was brought in by everyone to stop arguments over team selection. Before, during and after the match several players (not just one) were arguing which is what we all want to avoid. Let’s get back to leaving it with the captains to pick between themselves in private beforehand and getting on with the game. It’s only a bit of fun guys! πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ Roll on next week! πŸ˜‚

Let’s make it a cracking finish to a brilliant season lads see you there!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

The pre match hype was all about team selection and how the Blues were going to get battered all game. But the Blues played their part in a good game.

Both teams had clearly set tactics for their teams. The Blues put 6 men behind the ball when out of possession and were relying on clinical finishing to get a result. The Reds had targeted Balf as the danger man and Ian had the job of man marking him all game. They were hoping the pace of Elliot and Dim would win them the game.

The first half was like a chess match with both teams cancelling each other out. If anything, the ‘weaker’ Blues were the better team creating good chances and being really organised in defence. But they were unable to punish the Reds and missed a hatfull of chances. The Reds had fewer chances but were much more accomplished in their shooting with a few long range efforts finding the back of the net.

The game was locked level half way through and it was all to play for.

As players got more tired in the 2nd half the game opened more, particularly the Blues who seemed to be having to work twice as hard as the Reds. This allowed Ste and Tommy more time on the ball at the back and their distribution and good defending was starting to annoy the Blues. Ian was doing a job on Balf man marking him and it made attacking really difficult for the Blues.

The Reds got a few goals to take an advantage going into the final 20 minutes.

Elliot and Dim started to come into their own towards the back end of the game as the space opened up. They were beating people for fun and the goals were starting to flow. The Blues had to go at the Reds and pile forward and this really was their undoing. Dim and El scored some superb goals and were essentially the difference in the sides. The scoreline was 6 goals up for the Reds but this didn’t tell the full story.

Was a close game up until the final 20 minutes when the Reds took over. They take the final win of a brilliant season!

Ste takes the title with an end of season charge and pips Bryan by 1 point! πŸ† Andy, Bryan and El have had good seasons but just fall short, they live to fight another day! πŸ‘Š

Cracking season lads πŸ‘

Roll on season 5!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Dim just edges Tommy this week with 5 votes. He was on top form this week and clinical in the big moments in the game. Showed some silky skills and was a real match winner. Well played Dim.

KEY STATS

Bryan will count himself unlucky this season, 7 wins from 8 games is really impressive! Play 10 games next season Bry πŸ˜‰

Alan’s rotten season finally comes to an end with a record 8 loses. A season to forget but season 5 will definitely be better for him!

Tommy has had his best season yet with 6 wins from 8. Fantastic Tommy!

Andy and Elliot finish with the exact same record this season.

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

For a change, there wasnt a collapse this week and both teams fought hard until the end. It was a really good game.

The Blues started off arguably the better team with a good tactical shape and had the majority of the possession. However, they found themselves a couple of goals down as the Reds hit them with a few counter attacks. The Blues though kept positive as they felt the goals would come and they did as Balf finally beat Mart who was making some good saves.

A few goals for either team meant it was 4-4 with half the game gone. The match had continued in the same fashion, Blues dominating the ball but Reds breaking quickly.

Then the chaos started. Tackles were starting to fly in as the pressure increased, the shouts were becoming louder and more often. The Blues ball possession started to take its toll on the Reds as Ian, Balf and John started to find that extra yard of space which meant more shots on goal. Martin made a lot of excellent saves to keep the Reds in the match and Ste was making some super last ditch tackles. The Blues did find the back of the net on a few occasions though and set up a 3 goal lead.

A combination of the Blues having a terrible 10 minutes and the Reds being brilliant then happened. The Blues midfields work rate dipped in chasing back and this left Dim and Elliot with loads of room to work with. When the Blues lost possession, Ste and Bryan were picking out the Reds attackers who ruthlessly seemed to finish off every chance. Some of goals were brilliant from their point of view and this opened up a 4 goal lead with 10 minutes left.

Credit to the Blues, they didnt give up and kept going. Ryan and Andy were making charging runs to support the forwards and it took some wonderful goals to beat the red’s defence. Balf was tirelessly pressing up front which created a few chances and the Blues got it to 1 goal behind with a few minutes left.

The Blues threw everything at the Reds. Ste continued to make great tackles and Mart saves. A quick break from the Reds and Elliot delivered the killer blow with a great close range finish and they take the win! Well played Reds.

This game could have gone either way. 10 frantic minutes decided the game. Title decider next week bring it on!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Ste takes it this week with 5 votes and a massive performance. Another rock solid display making some huge tackles and blocks. His distribution was first class and also made some crazy runs from defence. 2 bonus points takes him top of the league well played Ste! πŸ‘

Remaining votes went to:

Mart with 3

Dim with 2

Elliot with 2

KEY STATS

Alan matches an unwanted record of 7 losses in a season. However Andy in season 1 and Dim in season 3 did get wins. Can Alan get that win or will he go all season without a victory?

This weeks results means mathematically it’s a 3 horse race with Ste, Andy and Bryan. Elliot and Balf cannot win the league now as they will not be able to overtake BOTH Andy and Ste with them being captains next week.

MATCH REPORT

This game promised to be a classic, especially after the first half when it was so tight. But for the second match in a row one team ran away with it in the 2nd half.

The Blues were the better team in the opening exchanges going a couple of goals ahead thanks to some great individual goals from Elliot and Ian.

The Reds were trying to pass and move, create chances and eventually their resistance paid off as they came back into the game with some well worked goals.

A few more goals were scored for each team and it was really close. The pivotal moment in the match seemed to come when Ryan “tackled” Bryan and went on and scored a superb goal. However, Bryan called foul which meant the goal was disallowed. Ryan was so frustrated with the decision and felt it was embarrassing. Bryan was defiant and the goal didnt stand.

This moment of frustration for the Blues seemed to affect them. Also a lack of concentration and work rate seemed to creep into some of the players game and the Reds took full advantage.

The Reds found more time and space on the ball. With quality on the ball from Ste, Balf and Dim they were dominating possession and creating chance after chance. Dim started pulling the trigger more and more, finding the back of the net and the dependable Balf was also scoring.

Nathan had his best game for weeks and was solid as a rock at the back with Ste. Bryan was also a steady player for the Reds and it was turning into a really good team performance for the Reds.

The Blues just couldn’t seem to get anything going and were definitely 2nd best. In the end it was a comprehensive victory for the Reds and they take the 3 points. 2 games to go!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Dim just edges it this week with 4 votes! He played with speed, skill and more direct in his attacking play. Scored and assisted several times and was key to the Reds victory. Well played Dim!

MATCH REPORT

This was another game that was decided with one team taking over in the final 20 minutes.

The Reds started the game in organised fashion. The defenders were solid and distributing the ball to the attacking players quickly who between themselves were creating some good chances. The Blues managed to hold them off and counter attack quickly using the pace of Elliott and Dim.

It was the Reds who broke the deadlock and scored two quick goals, but you always felt the Blues were well in the contest. Eventually the Blues scored and Elliot was seeing more and more of the ball.

After a few goals for both teams in an evenly matched game, the Reds had a great spell, particularly with Bryan leading the line superbly. He scored a few wonderful goals with his back turned to goal and also created chances for his teammates. Martin and Balf were making some great runs and some lovely football was been played. The Reds found themselves 3 up.

The Blues found some rhythm and started to play much better. Ste was putting some big tackles in and was starting to control the game for them. Elliot was making his trademark runs from midfield and with his pace, forced some mistakes and helped himself to some great goals. Dim and John were also creating some space and chipped in with a few goals.

With the scores all level this was a real competitive match and stayed that was for the next 15 minutes. The Reds continued to try and play pass and move football whereas the Blues were playing a more direct route to goal. Every goal for both teams was celebrated like a cup final and every tackle made felt like a goal. Had a big game feel to it.

The final 20 minutes was decisive. A few of the Blues players switched off either through fatigue or a lack of concentration. With the Reds continuing to play the passing game, they were suddenly finding more space and their runs not being tracked. Balf filled his boots with some devastating finishing with Martin running the Blues ragged. Tommy was also having a wonderful game never giving the away and setting up his teammates with chances. With Ryan playing like two men at the back the Reds were completely dominant for the final 20 minutes and played excellently and won by 6 goals.

The Blues didnt really deserve to get beaten by that scoreline but Reds continued to keep playing football and it paid off for them.

Good game lads what an exciting final 3 games its going to be!

With 3 games left important to clarify rules regarding league positions if two people are on the same amount of points. A person will be placed higher if he has more MOTM. If they are the same then it goes to number of votes, after that it goes to victories, after that appearances! Never know it could come down to that!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Martin just edges this weeks MOTM with 5 votes. He was back to his best and the Martin we know. Busy all over the field, tracking back and making intelligent runs up front. Made some superb blocks and tackles and scored some cracking goals. Well deserved well played Mart!

MATCH REPORT

A game of two halfs was certainly an understatement in gameweek 6!

The first half the Blues were well on top. With a lot of defensive minded players on their team they opted for the 3 at the back formation with the wider players supporting the front 2 with runs down the wings. This paid dividends as the Blues stormed to a 4-1 lead with Dim and John linking well and also scoring some great individual goals. The wingbacks were providing that 3rd man to support the front 2, particularly Ryan who was having a stormer.

The Blues looked very comfortable but the Reds hadn’t started well at all. They were sloppy in their play, getting beat easily and not putting in the tackles. If it wasnt for Ell with that pace up front and Bryan holding the ball up well they wouldn’t have scored at all.

Ste and Balf started off slow by their standards, but they got better and better as the game went on, which helped the Reds get into the match. The Reds were starting to play some much better stuff and put the Blues on the back foot.

A couple of quick goals from El and Balf and suddenly they were right back in the game. A much more even contest.

Dim then went in goal for the Blues and Andy was pushed into an attacking role, he scored a few decent goals and Blues got their lead back. Dim then came back out and the Blues restored their comfortable lead of 4 with Nate and Ryan chipping in. The Blues looked like they were going to manage this game and come away with the win.

But then the game flipped on its head in a big way with 20/25 minutes to go. The Blues just stopped working for each other. They were the ones getting beat easily and not tracking the runs. The Reds got more and more confident and they quite fancied pulling this back.

Bryan was solid in goal, Ste was a rock at the back, Martin and Tommy got a lot busier in the centre, Balf and Elliots influenced on the game was increasing with each passing minute.

The Reds scored goal after goal. Balf couldn’t hit a barn door in the 1st half but he was finding the corner of the net in the business end of the game. Elliot was hammering the ball in the back of the net and the Blues were really struggling.

The Blues completely lost their composure and it was starting to become an embarrassing scoreline with the Reds 6 up. They managed to keep it at 6 but they went home in disbelief at what happened.

A superb win for the Reds who never gave up, they scored the goals at will when it mattered, well played. The Blues will be mightily disappointed, this was one that they should have seen out.

Looks like we are in for a brilliant last 4 games of the season!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Ste is this weeks MOTM with 4 votes. He set the tone for his teams comeback with his no nonsense defensive style and excellent distribution! Well played Ste great game πŸ‘Œ

MATCH REPORT

In the preview the game was billed as a massive game, it certainly lived up to the expectation it was a belter!

The Blues started the brighter team with some nice exchanges and they got their reward with a great swivel and turn from Bryan to go 1 up.

The Reds equalised but very quickly the Blues earned a penalty and Tommy gave us a lesson on how to take a penalty. Straight into the top corner with pace, keeper had no chance.

A few more goals from Dim, Bryan and Tommy the Blues and they found themselves 4-1 and looking the better side.

The Reds finally came into the game with Balf, Ian and John starting to find space on the ball in midfield. Andy and Ryan found themselves 3 v 2 on numerous occasions and the pressure started to tell as the Reds levelled it up.

From then on neither team pulled away and got a foothold on the match. There was the odd goal here and there from both teams but it was so close. The Blues were having some good chances but Alan was pulling off some unbelievable saves. The Reds would then hit them on the break but the Blues stubborn defence were just about keeping them it it.

The game got really competitive and as it was so close some controversial shouts were being made. Both teams wanted this one bad.

With 20 minutes to go the Reds upped it a gear and for the first time in the match they went ahead as Ian and Balf started finding his range with some superb goals. The Blues however kept cool heads and continued to throw men forward and got back level.

For the final 15 minutes no team conceded a goal and we approached 7:00. The call was made to play next goal wins and what a finale it was.

Every player that had a yard of space was shooting trying to win the match for their team. Balf hit a cracking shot which was saved expertly by Martin. Bryan then hit the crossbar and both teams were desperate for that winner.

Andy then took a chance and steamed forward as an extra attacker. He capitalised on a defensive mistake and with the 2nd bite of the cherry scored a toe poke with the left boot to get the 3 points.

What a fantastic, competitive match lads everyone played their part. No team deserved to lose but winner takes all is cruel to the team that lost. Great game lads roll on gameweek 6!
