Let’s have a fantastic game lads!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

The teams in this game looked well matched beforehand and so it proved to be for the majority of the game.

The game started with a bang with Bryan shooting from a ridiculous range and somehow it beat the helpless Ste in goal.

Elliot, Dim and Martin were buzzing around the pitch like they normally do and the Blues started off a couple of goals up.

The Reds soon got into the rhythm of the match and leveled it up with some nice play from Ian, Tony and John. But overall both defenses were pretty solid and the goals were hard to come by.

Both teams never really got a stranglehold, as soon as one team scored, the other team bounced back straight away.

The Blues made a switch with Martin going into defense and Balf moving into midfield with 20 minutes to go and this appeared to be the game changer. For some reason the Blues didn’t seem to be as organised, the energy levels dipped and the Reds then took over.

Tony and Ian found more space in midfield and used John up front as the focal point in their attack. Tony was suddenly banging them in from every angle and Reds couldnt keep up. The best goal of the match came from Ian feeding John a lovely ball through the eye of a needle and John finished it giving the keeper no chance.

The Reds were playing some lovely football and made the last 20 minutes look comfortable. The Blues tried to get back into the match but the Reds goalkeeper Ste was in inspired form and blocking everything.

It was a very competitive match for an hour but for some reason the Blues dropped off and the Reds took over and earned the 3 points.

Good game lads some decent footy played!

MAN OF THE MATCH

MOTM with 5 votes is Tony (just popping Ian by 1 vote). His finishing was on point especially in the business end of the game. His work rate was also probably the best on the pitch and was the difference between the two sides. Well played Tony!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

This week saw a cracking match and a really good feel to it.

The Blues raced out of the blocks with 3 quick goals and everyone thought this could be a walkover.

Credit to the Reds they put in a real shift and kept breaking in numbers. As soon as the Blues lost the ball in attack Elliot, Martin and John raced forward with pace and found themselves 3v2 against Nathan and Ryan. El had his shooting boots on and kept hammering goals in leaving Andy with no chance.

This became a real problem for the Blues as they conceded 7 goals in a row and were 4 goals back. One of these goals was from Tony G who banged in an absolute rocket into the top corner. Unstoppable. The Reds were massively on top.

A quick stoppage in play gave the Blues a chance to sort their tactics out and try get a foothold in the game. It started to work as Ian and Dim found themselves having more touches of the ball in midfield and forcing the Reds deep into their half. On top of that the Blues became more aggressive in their tackling and stopped giving the space to the Reds. Goal after goal then followed and in the blink of an eye it was level.

The Blues looked certain to win as they were piling the pressure on the Reds defence. But the Reds started defending better with the experience of Alan and Tony G settling things down. Ste in goal was also making some crucial saves.

The Blues ended up edging a goal up with only 5 minutes left and looked like they were going to snatch it. Ian thought he had scored to go 2 up but this was disallowed due to Stes call in net. Big moment in the game. The Reds then brought it back level to set up a tense finish.

The killer blow came with a few minutes to go when Elliot was stuck in the corner, but with some skill and pure willpower managed to get himself across the area and fire in the winner for the Reds! Soft goal from the Blues point of view but what a match winning moment for the Reds.

The Reds take the 3 points for the win in what was an enjoyable match. Roll on next week!

MAN OF THE MATCH

A close one to call this week which is why we have a tie for MOTM with Alan and Elliot receiving 4 votes a piece!

Alan was a cool customer at the back, never gave the ball away, tackled well and just played it forward nice and simple. Excellent form.

Elliot was unstoppable this week with another pacey and skillfully performance. Scored the pivotal goals.

Well played lads!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORTNot quite one of the close encounters we have had in recent weeks. It was a cagey first 15 minutes and nobody seemed to want to pull the trigger. 0-0 it remained and eventually the Blues took the lead and from then on they started to play some good football.Tony, Ian and Martin started finding some space and creating some good chances. Alan was also finding some defence splitting balls from the back which were causing all sorts of problems.Ian switched on this week and scored some great goals including a peach of a volley which was the pick of the bunch! The Reds players seemed to struggle this week and couldnt really get a foothold in the match.Dim and Balf were working hard to score some goals but everytime they scored the Blues hit them straight back. The defence and goalkeeper also made it difficult for the goals to flow. They also found themselves losing their cool slightly with some of the contentious fouls being called for. With the Reds rotating keeper as well they found it hard to get a rhythm in the match for long periods. The Blues had a cushion of a few goals for the majority of the match and in the final 15 minutes they turned the screw and got themselves a comfortable lead and they cruised to an easy victory. Was a very good, organised performance from the Blues. Roll on next week!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Difficult one to judge this week with no stand real stand out performer. Andy got 4 votes and this weeks MOTM. A memorable save after some confusion from Stes shot might have just edged it for him.

MATCH PREVIEW

New season and everyone is now a contender! Clean slate all to play for!Who will put down an early marker?

Tommy and Nathan are todays captains see teams below, let’s have a cracker lads!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

Credit to the captains, this was as close a game as we’ve ever had in Sunday League Football. But it was marked with a very controversial last 10 minutes!

Both teams camped men behind the ball when they didn’t have possession and it was extremely difficult to break the defenses down.

But the Reds kept hitting the Blues hard on the break with the electric pace of Elliot causing all sorts of problems who also had his shooting boots on this week.

The Blues soon levelled the game up with some real hardworking goals. It was pretty much neck a neck all the way. With goalkeepers from both sides making saves any goals scored were of high quality.

The team goal of the day was definitely from the Blues who made some lovely 1 2’s with John and Balf, finished expertly from Dim.

It was soon becoming the Elliot and Dim show as these two players were on top form and kept firing some stunning goals for their team. Elliot was shooting from all angles and seemed to find the corners everytime, Dim was finishing most chances he was given. Both players had a quality game.

The Reds clearly had a gameplan trying to mark Balf out of the game. While this kept Balf quiet on the ball, he cleverly kept dragging Reds players over to the left which provided Dim with loads of space on the right. This allowed Dim to run at the Reds and he seemed to beat his man everytime.

A couple of brilliant solo goals from Dim gave the Blues a 1 goal advantage going into the last 10 minutes.

The first controversial moment came when there was a bit of a scramble outside the Reds box. The ball kindly fell for Balf who finished the shot and the Blues thought they had that 2 goal cushion. However Bryan called the shot was in the area and this caused quite a stir.

The goal didn’t stand and during the discussions the Reds scored a quick goal with Elliot spotting Andy miles away from his goal and chipped in to what he thought was a leveller. The Blues claimed a few of their players had stopped playing and the goal was disallowed.

What drama! In the end the result stood at a Blues victory by 1 goal. We could have done with VAR!!

Well played lads, roll on gameweek 2!

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 9 votes Dim was MOTM. He scored the majority of goals for the Blues and finished the game in style with some brilliant goals. Superb skill and dribbling and scored the winner. Well played Dim!

Remaining votes went to:

Andy with 2

KEY STATS

LEAGUE TABLE

SEASON 2 – 16TH JUNE 2019 – GAMEWEEK 10

Welcome to Sunday League Football.

MATCH PREVIEW

Can you believe it, last day of season 2!

With the gap at 5 points at the top, Ryan could match Balfs points tally with a win and MOTM.

However, as Balf has 2 MOTM performances this season and Ryan has zero, Balf will remain at the top regardless of todays result!

Congratulations to our season 2 champion Balf! 👏 (As long as the baby doesn’t come along before 5:30!)

Still plenty to play for in this 10 game season.

Can Alan avoid 6 defeats in a row? Can Balf beat Ryan’s record of 33 points in a season? Can Elliots record of 18 votes in a single season be beaten? Can you beat your points tally from last season?

Teams have been picked, let’s hope this game is as good as last weeks!!

See you at 5:30!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

With the title decided beforehand, it could have been a bit of a dead rubber match with not much intensity, not a chance! This was probably the tightest game in 2 season’s!

For 10 minutes both teams were putting men behind the ball and the defences were not letting a thing get past them. Goalless it remained until a few quick goals from the Blues put them ahead with some well worked moves by Ian, Balf and John. But the Reds responded quickly through Martin, Elliot and Dim smashing some unstoppable goals.

The game continued in the same vain with no team really getting on top. When one team scored the other team responded straight away.

Things sparked into life dramatically when a few tasty tackles from both teams started going in and both team were really wanting to win this one badly.

Both defences were playing really well and any goals scored were of high quality, the pick of the bunch was Elliots screamer into top bins which was unstoppable.

With 10 minutes left the Blues managed to get themselves a goal up in the match. The big moments came when Elliot went 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper who came out quickly to stop the shot and then Dim blasted a long range shot heading to the top corner which was superbly saved. The Blues managed to hold on for the win with a 1 goal advantage. Great game lads roll on season 3!

MAN OF THE MATCH

His 2 big saves at a crucial time in the match meant Andy was given this week’s MOTM. For the first time a clean sweep of 11 votes received!

The remaining vote went to Ste

SEASON 2 CHAMPION

With 7 wins and 2 man of the match performances Balf is this season’s champion! He has had a very consistent season with a high work rate in midfield and some superb goals pretty much every week.

A record 34 points and an excellent season, congratulation Balf well deserved!

KEY STATS

Ryan has has another excellent season with a win rate of 66.6% will surely contend again next season!

Alan stops the rot and finally avoids another defeat. 5 wins and 5 losses, pretty good season Alan showing all that experience in defence!

Andy has a record 24 votes and 3 MOTM performances in a season, from only 6 games. Maybe he will consider a full season in nets going forward?

MATCH PREVIEW

It’s the penultimate game of season 2 and it promises to be a belter!Balf and Ryan are the two captains this week and both want to win badly to go into the last week top of the league!

Elliot and Alan are also not too far behind top spot and with some good results and maybe a MOTM performance, they might have a say on who becomes season 2 champion!

For the rest of us, can we beat last seasons position and improve? Can we enjoy the beautiful game and give it our all? Can Ian win another game this season?

All will be revealed in gameweek 9! Who’s pumped for it? 💪 Let’s have a good’n lads

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

This was another game of high quality and drama. It started with a cheeky back heel flick goal from John which had the blues purring. They were playing a very silky passing game with Ian especially picking out some fantastic balls, he was back to his best. John was doing a brilliant job of holding the ball up nicely up front.

When the Reds did get further up the pitch the defenders of Andy and Ste were blocking most attempts. However when the Reds got some shots on target, there was an outstanding goalkeeper of Christian who was in inspired form.

The Blues built up a healthy 4 goal advantage and it looked like it was going to be a walk in the park. But Christian wanted his time out of nets and to start off with he went on an amazing solo dribble and buried his chance. The Blues then lost their shape and some players strayed out of position which caused all sorts of confusion. And I’m sure we all heard Balf reminding his players of their defensive duties 😂.

This perked the Reds up and they dragged themselves back into the game. Nathan scored a screamer from the half way line, then Dim and Elliot smashed in goal after goal, each one seemed to be in the corners giving the keeper no chance.

Alan and Ryan were barking orders to their team and before you knew it the game was level. The Blues decided to revert back to Andy in defence and Christian back in nets and this seemed to stop the rot.

A big moment in the game happened when Christian made a rare mistake and was miles outside the box, penalty time! Dim missed the target from the spot kick and was a big opportunity missed.

Balf then put in a real captains performance and scored a few fine goals which ultimately lead the Blues to victory.

Was another really good game lads the standard has been fantastic last few weeks well played all.

MAN OF THE MATCH

With 5 votes Ian is this week’s man of the match. His range of passing this week was excellent and didn’t put a foot wrong all game. Reckon this was his best performance over the 2 seasons great effort Ian!

Remaining votes went to:

Balf with 4

Andy with 1

Christian with 2

KEY STATS

The only way Balf cannot be season 2 champion is if he misses gameweek 10 and Ryan gets MOTM with a win. The writings on the wall!

5 straight loses for Alan, sure this is doing his head in now!

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

What a brilliant match this was, one of the best yet!

The Blues started hot and went 3-0 up after 10 minutes and it looked like they were going to cruise to an easy victory.

But the Reds were having non of it, Alan and Ian for the Reds soon organised their team and crawled their way back with some excellent finishing, particularly Richie and Ian with some long range specials.

The Blues completely lost their shape and gaps in the middle meant Ian and Richie started to dictate play and dominate the match. Danny in an unfamiliar role in defence was also having a blinder keeping the Blues quiet.

After a quick pep talk, the Blues changed positions with Bryan swapping to defence alongside Tommy. Also they stopped the gaps in the centre. This was a pivotal tactical move as the Blues got themselves back into the game with some great goals by El and Balf.

With 30 minutes to go the game was brilliant to be involved in, one minute the Blues went ahead, the next the Reds went ahead. Who wins, anyones guess at this stage. Some brilliant well worked goals, some great saves from both goalkeepers, the occasional big tackle and a great vibe in the match.

10 minutes to go and the Reds went 2 goals up and to be honest it looked like they had sealed it. But straight from kick off El went on an incredible solo run and smashed in a superb goal and then the Blues tails were back up, the Reds heads went down.

3 goals from the Blues to go 2 ahead and the game was sealed, what drama!

Great win for the Blues, the Reds played their part in a great spectacle and it really could have gone either way. The last 2 weeks of the season could be very interesting! Well played lads 👍

MATCH REPORT

Well with the teams picked this week and some regulars returning it was all set to be a crowd pleaser (Caleb and Mya)

The reds started well with Marty banging in 2 straight from the off. And with the reds knocking the ball round well they seemed to control the game.

It was a close game with only one or two goals separating the teams for a good 45 minutes.

With about 30 minutes left the blues seemed to find another gear and and with some nice play from Balf and Brian and some quality finishing from Elliot the blues found themselves taking the lead.

Once they took the lead, they kept their foot on the gas and manage to build a sizeable lead much to big Als frustration, who let el know exactly how he was feeling 😂

Tony managed to get a couple goals back but with Dim saving pretty much everything the reds could throw at him they couldn’t do enough to get back in the game.

The blues took a well deserved win with a great team effort.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Balf was on fire this week with some great defending, laser accurate passing, and clinical finishing. His work rate for a fat lad was phenomenal 😂 4 votes for Balf

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

Well it was that time of the week again… the Sunday league showdown.
And this weeks game was a thriller!

With some of the regular players missing it was looking like both teams were heavily defensive teams.

The blues took an early head start but never seamed to get a comfortable lead as the reds kept on firing back with some nice 1-2’s from Tommy and Elliot.

It was a close game with end to end action with some nice team football from both teams.
The blues seemed to have the most chances in front of goal but Pete made some great saves much to Ryan and Balfs frustration.

With 10 minutes left to play to trailing reds seemed to find another gear.
They pulled the game back level but just couldn’t hold on till the end.

The Blues kept on attacking and managed to seal the win with some creative play from Balf and some late goals from Ryan and Martin.

All in all it was a close game all the way through and although it was a low scoring game both teams played well.

Well done Blues!

MAN OF THE MATCH

TEAMS

MATCH REPORT

Wow! well this weeks game went down to the wire. Alan’s army were looking on top form right from the off firing in a couple of well worked goals.

But the lead didn’t last long the reds came firing back.

This game had a bit of everything some nice team goals, some 20 yard screamers some dodgy tackles, a few cheeky megs, a couple of flannel wrists and of course arguments.

The blues looked unstoppable pulling ahead at one point by 5 with some nice strikes from Ian and Balf.

But the reds never looked defeated and once they got a bit more organised, dug there heals in and started linking up they started to pull it back.

With some well timed tackles and cheeky interceptions meant the reds could catch the blues on the break and bring the game back level.
With a last minute some may say “controversial” goal from dim meant the reds sealed the win.

All in all it was a good close game, with some great saves, crucial tackles and goals coming from all over the place.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Nathan is this weeks MOTM with a massive 10 votes! Nathan’s hard work and never give up attitude spurred on his team to victory and that’s why he’s this weeks man of the match. His crucial tackles and passing from the back was outstanding. Well done Nathan, well deserved.
